Within many large organizations, data can get fragmented in silos due to imperfect sharing, lack of technical expertise, and use of isolated platforms. But overcoming data silos has clear benefits, including powering deeper consumer insights, more personalized experiences, and better decision making. In fact, Gartner predicts that by 2023, organizations that are working to encourage data sharing will outperform their peers on most business value metrics.
To learn more about how organizations share data, Azira partnered with Gartner Peer Insights to survey 200 technology decision-makers.
The findings indicate that technology leaders see clear benefits to sharing data – the top benefits they rated around sharing data were:
However, while respondents clearly valued sharing data and its importance to the organization, many are still falling short:
- Just 25% of respondents said they’re working very closely with other data leaders in their organizations.
- Just 16% think their organization unites data very well across marketing and operations departments specifically.
- When asked if there is a role in their organization to help departments to work together more effectively, 58% of respondents said no or were unsure.
